Vista as the first Charm-C case...

Compared the heydays of Windows 95 when people literally fought their way to grab a copy during late-night launches, the Vista no longer commands that sort of attention.

Reasons such as "XP being good enough" are valid albeit boring. The Redmond company might consider driving industry adoption of hardware-enabled features such as motion sensor and touch-screens. Microsoft could introduce new user-interface features that benefit from tighter coupling of hardware and software capabilities.

The Surface is a good evidence that Microsoft is still capable of innovating, they just need to capitalize on that.

And finally, the SideShow was another good initiative from Microsoft that, unfortunately, did not enjoy as much adoption as it rightly deserved.

Brand Building

Charm-C? It's actually the Hokkien name of a drink in Penang. A mixture of coffee and tea with a sprinkle of milk, this eclectic local favorite embodies a frequent theme of my thoughts.

Low-hanging fruits in the business world--simplistic hardware- and software-only models--have long been grabbed. Red sea. However, a plethora of opportunities permutating over combinations of hardware, software and services are still abound to be exploited. Blue ocean.

Hence the name Charm-C as the first baby step of branding this blog. Thanks to my mom for suggesting the name...
